Schoolcraft County snowmobilers head to court
MANISTIQUE, MI– A preliminary hearing is set for a Gwinn man accused of hitting a deputy with his snowmobile in Schoolcraft County.
Dawson Gray, 19, was one of three snowmobilers who fled after police ordered them to stop on a Hiawatha Township trail January 21. He’s charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder; assault with a dangerous weapon; resisting and obstructing a police officer; resisting and obstructing, causing injury to an officer; and fleeing and eluding on a snowmobile.
His preliminary exam is set for Monday in Schoolcraft County District Court.
The other two suspects, Stephen Combs, 39, and Terry Park, 33—both of Marquette—will appear in court February 22 for their hearings. Park is charged with refusing to take a preliminary breath test on a snowmobile. Combs faces charges of failure to stop for a police officer on a snowmobile; fleeing and eluding; reckless operation on a snowmobile; and failure to display a trail permit.
