Explosion destroys Negaunee home
NEGAUNEE, MI– An explosion and subsequent fire have destroyed a house in Negaunee.
Sunday at 2:50 a.m. City Police were dispatched to 1016 Baldwin Avenue. They believe the explosion—which originated in the basement—was caused by a possible natural gas leak.
Homeowner Laura Gagnon, 94, and her 57-year-old daughter Patricia were able to escape the home, along with two of their relatives. No injuries were sustained.
The house is a total loss.
City Police were assisted by the Negaunee Township Fire Department, Marquette County Rescue Unit 131, the Negaunee Department of Public Works, and Semco Energy.
