Accused Ontonagon embezzler sentenced
ONTONAGON, MI-- An Upper Peninsula woman who authorities say embezzled more than $15,000 from a youth hockey group has been sentenced to two months in jail.
Anne Pollard, 43, also was ordered Wednesday to pay restitution to the Ontonagon Amateur Hockey Association after pleading no contest to attempted embezzlement.
A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing.
Pollard formerly served as the group's treasurer and the missing money was noticed in 2011. At the hearing, she read a written statement in which she apologized to the community.
Pollard still faces another embezzlement case involving Copper Country Mental Health. That case has been sent to 98th District Court for a preliminary hearing.
