Arrest made in 2017 Marquette vehicle/house crash

GRAND HAVEN, MI--   A downstate man has been arrested for crashing a vehicle into a Marquette home.

On September 8 of last year, Central Dispatch received a call around 12:20 a.m. that a vehicle had hit a

house on the 600 block of Union Street. Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from a residence on Van Evera Avenue. Both the residence and the vehicle sustained damage.

Police say blood evidence and witness statements were collected at the scene, which pointed to a possible suspect. DNA analysis from the suspect was a match to DNA found at the scene.

A warrant out of the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office was issued for Brock Stenfors, 20, of Grand Haven. He’s charged with unlawfully driving away an automobile and failure to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident.

Stenfors was arrested by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, where he later posted bond. He was arraigned in Marquette County District Court on July 30.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
