Careless driving the cause of Negaunee 4-vehicle crash

NEGAUNEE, MI--   No serious injuries are reported from a four-vehicle accident in Negaunee.

City Police were called to US-41 near the Teal Lake Avenue intersection Monday around 4 p.m. They say a Pontiac G6 was stopped in the left-turn lane, waiting to turn south when it was rear-ended by a westbound Volkswagen Jetta. The force of the collision sent the Pontiac into a Chevy Express van, then across the centerline, where it was side-swiped by a westbound Chevy Silverado.

The driver of the Pontiac complained of knee and neck pain. He was transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The driver of the Jetta said he was adjusting the vehicle’s radio at the time of the crash. He was cited for careless driving.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
