Delta County recount establishes outcome for sinking fund proposal

ESCANABA, MI--   Recounts of November 6 election ballots were held for a Delta County school proposal and supervisor race Thursday.

County Clerk Nancy Kolich says ballots from Fairbanks, Garden, Nahma and Inwood Townships were recounted for the Big Bay de Noc School District sinking fund millage proposal. It originally ended in a 617 yes to 617 no tie vote. Thursday’s recount resulted in 617 yes to 618 no. The proposal is defeated.

A recount was also held for the Fairbanks Township Supervisor race. On November 6 Ron Collins received 101 votes and Dan Dalgord received 97 votes. Thursday’s recount confirmed those numbers.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
