Escanaba hosting drug take-back event

ESCANABA, MI--   Residents in Delta County can perform a spring cleaning on their medicine cabinets this weekend with a drug take-back event in Escanaba.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Escanaba Public Safety will be at Walgreens to accept old, expired, or unneeded medications for proper disposal. The event aims to reduce the number of homes that have opioid painkillers on hand, as well as other medicines that shouldn’t be kept, dumped in the trash, or flushed down the toilet.

The free, no-questions-asked drug take-back is sponsored by the Michigan Medicine Department of Anesthesiology and organized through an initiative to reduce opioid abuse in the state.
