Fatal accident in Mackinac County

ST. IGNACE, MI--   A woman has been killed in a two-vehicle accident in Mackinac County.

State Police from the St. Ignace Post say it happened on US-2 just west of St. Ignace around 8:15 Thursday morning. Troopers say the driver of an eastbound minivan crossed the centerline of the snow-covered, icy road and hit a westbound pickup truck.

The driver of the minivan was taken to Straits Area Hospital, where she died of her injuries. The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries.

A portion of US-2 was closed while investigators processed the scene.

Police say weather conditions were a contributing factor to the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be involved.
