Man arraigned for having pipe bomb in vehicle

HOUGHTON, MI--   A L’Anse man faces a felony charge after police found a pipe bomb in his vehicle. 

State police from the Calumet Post say Caleb Lynum, 19, rear-ended a vehicle trying to turn left onto US-41 from Denton Road in Houghton County Friday. A search of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia and a pipe bomb. The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was called in to defuse the device.

Lynum was arraigned Monday on a charge of felony dangerous weapons and operating without security. A preliminary exam is set for August 29.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
