Man attacks vehicle with machete outside Peninsula Medical Center
MARQUETTE, MI-- A Marquette County man has been arrested for striking another man’s car with a machete in a fit of road rage outside the Peninsula Medical Center in Marquette.
City Police say the attack happened Wednesday around 11 a.m. after one car allegedly cut another off as they were northbound on McClellan Avenue. When the vehicles arrived at the Medical Center parking lot the man who was allegedly cut off—Jeffrey Anderson, 66, of Northland—exited his vehicle with a machete and approached the other driver’s car.
The second man stayed in his vehicle and dialed 911 while Anderson screamed, waved the blade around, and struck the victim’s car with it. Anderson then went back to his vehicle, parked it, and went into the medical center without the machete.
City Police arrested Anderson inside the Medical Center. He’s charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and malicious destruction of personal property, punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
Anderson remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $110,000 bond.
