Missing Marquette man found safe

The Apopka Voice

Marquette, MI - A missing Marquette man has been found safe in a wooded area just north of the Dead River Basin. Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies and Search and Rescue were called to the area near County Road 510 and County Road GGT Sunday night at about 11:27 to search for a missing person. Seventy-one year old Steve Nason had gone to the area to perform trail maintenance on the North Country Trail. When he did not return home, his wife called 9-1-1. Nason was found at about 2:16 this morning. He seemed to be suffering from hypothermia and Search and Rescue built a fire to warm him before he was taken to UPHS for treatment.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee post, Rescue 131, and UP Health System EMS assisted at the scene.
