Motorcycle rider arraigned on fleeing charge

HOUGHTON, MI--   A preliminary exam is set for the man who led a Calumet State Police trooper on a 60-mile chase. 

Rudolph Voght, 31, is accused of fleeing when police tried to stop his motorcycle on Houghton Canal Road May 11.  The high-speed chase through the Copper Country ended just outside of Ontonagon when Voght stopped and surrendered.

Voght faces a charge of third-degree fleeing a police officer, punishable by up to five years in prison.

His preliminary hearing is set for May 27 in Houghton County District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
