Motorcyclist dead after crashing into semi

(Negaunee Township)-

A motorcyclist is dead following an accident involving a semi-truck.

Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies say the accident happened this morning on U.S.-41 in Negaunee Township when the motorcyclist crashed into the rear-end of the semi as the truck was turning left on the highway.

The motorcyclist, a 46-year old Negaunee Township man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet… and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.

Officials closed the eastbound lanes of U.S.-41 from Negaunee Township to Marquette… and rerouted eastbound traffic via M-35 to county road 492 to Marquette.

The accident remains under investigation.
