Negaunee youth in custody for stealing vehicles

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two Negaunee juveniles are in custody after they allegedly stole a couple of vehicles.

Sunday around 11:50 p.m. Marquette Police recovered a vehicle in Shiras Hills that was reported stolen in Negaunee.  The suspects were believed to be two juvenile runaways.

Monday at 6:20 a.m. officers were called to a Shiras residence on a report of another stolen vehicle.  Around 11 a.m. police found and apprehended the runaways and the stolen vehicle in an area near Shiras Hills.

They say the suspects are believed to have broken into numerous vehicles in the Negaunee and Marquette areas and taken items from them.  One of the items reported stolen in Marquette was a handgun.  It has since been recovered.

Police are reminding residents not to keep valuables in their vehicles and to lock their cars when unattended.  They also say never leave your keys in an unattended vehicle.
