Nerve gas claim leads Marquette Police to meth lab
MARQUETTE, MI-- Marquette Police have discovered an operating meth lab in an apartment at 1950 Presque Isle Avenue.
Officers found the lab after a woman called Bell Hospital Friday, saying a man had possibly been exposed to World War II nerve gas. Investigation revealed the victim had likely inhaled fumes from a working meth lab.
Officers searched the apartment Friday. They found components used to make meth and an active cook in operation.
The tenants were evacuated from the scene, along with the occupants of six other apartments. Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team then collected evidence and cleaned up the area.
The case remains under investigation. The Marquette Fire Department and Marquette County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
