New troopers come to U.P. posts

LANSING, MI--   Thirteen recent graduates of Michigan’s 133rd Trooper Recruit School are headed to the U.P.

Training at the MSP academy began June 4 in Lansing. Recruits received instruction in firearms, water safety, defensive tactics, patrol techniques, report writing, ethics, first aid, criminal law, crime scene processing, and precision driving.

Officials say 127 recruits graduated at the end of November.

This week three new troopers are reporting to the Negaunee Post; two are headed to Sault Ste. Marie; three to St. Ignace; one trooper each to Gladstone, Iron Mountain and Wakefield, and two to the Calumet Post.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
