"The Night Psalms," a new Marquette Choral Society commission

Marquette Choral Society

The Marquette Choral Society will perform a newly commissioned work by local composer, Griffin Candey, with texts by Walt Whitman, Anastasia Pennington-Flax and local area poet, Kathleen M. Heideman.  THE NIGHT PSALMS will premiere alongside Ralph Vaughan Williams epic major work DONA NOBIS PACEM, also on texts by Walt Whitman.

Composer Griffin Candey and Poet Kathleen M. Heideman -- both Marquette area residents -- will discuss the music and text of "The Night Psalms" (at 7:00 PM on Saturday and 2:30 PM on Sunday) in the Reynolds Recital Hall prior to these World Premiere concerts.

Both cantatas will feature soprano soloist Aani Bourassa and baritone soloist Richard Lippold along with the Choral Society and a moderate orchestra.  The works will be performed Saturday, April 28 @ 7:30 p.m. & Sunday, April 29 @ 3:00 p.m., at the Reynolds Recital Hall on NMU's campus.  Tickets available at NMU Tickets.
