NMU Board approves tuition rates for 2017-2018 year

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University officials have set tuition and fees for next school year.

On Friday NMU’s Board of Trustees approved a rate of $5,280.50 per semester for full-time resident

undergraduates. That’s an increase of $237.50 per semester from last year’s rate.

Nonresident undergraduate tuition will increase the same amount and graduate tuition is going up by $24 a credit hour. Course fees will remain unchanged.

The board determined the budget for university operations will continue at its current level until a new state general fund budget is approved.

In other action last week the board unanimously approved a five-percent raise for President Fritz Erickson, to $262,000. His contract has been extended by one year to 2020. Deferred compensation has increased by $15,000 per year for the first two years, with another $35,000 the final year if Erickson remains at Northern for the full term of his contract.
