MARQUETTE, MI-- Northern Michigan University has been named one of the top five Best East Coast Colleges for Skiers by Powder Magazine.
Though mixing schools in the East with one in the Midwest might not make geographical sense, the editors
give a nod to Lake Superior and its snow-making ability. The article says Marquette Mountain’s proximity to campus means students can hit the slopes between classes or after hours.
It also mentions the Midwest’s only true powder skiing at Mount Bohemia in Keweenaw County—about 2.5 hours away.
Editors say NMU is also a great spot for multi-sport days, as it’s one of the only consistent Midwest surf spots on the mighty Lake Superior.
