NMU skier Olympics-bound

MARQUETTE, MI--   A former Northern Michigan University Nordic skier is heading to the Olympics next month. 

Rosie Frankowski was one of 20 members picked to participate in cross-country skiing. Frankowski competed for the wildcats from 2009 to 2014. She was a two-time All-American, a runner-up in the NCAA Championships, and a participant in the U-23 World Championships.

Frankowski is the 12th NMU skier to participate in the Olympic Games.

Olympic opening ceremonies will be held February 9 in Pyeongchang. Skiing events are set for February 11 through the 25. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
