Northern Michigan University student passes away

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University’s flag is lowered to half-staff to honor the passing of a student.

Hunter Negri, 18, died January 16 at his home in Marquette. He was a first-year student pursuing a degree in accounting.

Negri graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 2017. An avid bowler, Negri held the highest average in the U.P. last year and bowled three perfect games. A scholarship has been set up in his name.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
