Officials close volunteer and donation center in Houghton

HOUGHTON, MI--   The Houghton County Volunteer Resource and Donation Center is now closed.

Opened in response to Father’s Day flooding, the center’s goods have been distributed to local charities.

Flood victims in need of bottled water or cleaning supplies can contact the Salvation Army at 482-3420 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents needing bottled water can also check with their local fire departments.

Flood victims who need other assistance are encouraged to contact local charities.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
