Preliminary hearing held for woman accused of murdering Iron River man

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   Details about the death of an Iron River man who went missing in 2014 are coming to light. 

Witnesses gave testimony Tuesday in a preliminary exam for Kelly Cochran, 33, who is charged with killing Christopher Regan.  WLUC-TV reports the lead investigator in the case said a skull believed to be Regan’s was found along the Pentoga Trail in Iron County in 2015.  He said Backcountry Search & Rescue also found a chew can and a pair of glasses.

A former neighbor of Cochran’s also testified she heard a gunshot coming from the direction of Cochran’s house in the fall of 2014. 

The hearing will continue in Iron County District Court September 27.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
