Public forum on redistricting to be held at NMU

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University is holding a town hall on redistricting and gerrymandering this weekend.

Third Vice-Chair of the Marquette County Democratic Party Fran Darling says it will feature attorney and election law expert Mark Brewer, who will also discuss voter registration laws.

Darling says while the NMU Democrats are hosting the public forum, it’s meant to be a non-partisan event.

“So I think he is approaching this topic as a public citizen, a lawyer, and an expert in the field,” she says.

Darling says the public will also have an opportunity to ask Brewer questions.

The town hall takes place Sunday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at the University Center Brule and Cadillac rooms.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
