Realtor fund donates to Copper Country flood relief

HOUGHTON, MI--   The Michigan Realtors Relief Fund has donated $50,000 to help Houghton County flood victims pay rent and mortgages.

Created in response to the Flint water crisis, the fund now provides housing-related assistance to victims of other disasters. Money is available through the Upper Peninsula Association of Realtors.

Residents are eligible for up to $1,000 per applicant per household. Officials say the money can help pay a mortgage for those whose homes were damaged or destroyed, or it can be used for rent for someone displaced by the flooding.

Applications can be found online at upar.org under Relief Assistance Application. Completed applications can be submitted online or mailed to 326 North Front Street, Marquette, Michigan, 49855. They’re due by September 15.
