Soo man found guilty of homicide

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--    A Sault Ste. Marie man on trial for murder has been found guilty. 

WLUC-TV reports Jeremy Lehre, 18, was convicted last week on charges of homicide-open murder, tampering with evidence, larceny in a building, and malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000.

Lehre was arrested in November following an assault on West 12th Avenue. The victim, 48-year-old Wesley Cook of the Soo, was transferred to an Ann Arbor hospital, where he died.

Lehre’s sentencing is set for October 23.

His cousin, 21-year-old Aaron Lehre, pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree home invasion and accessory after the fact. He will be sentenced October 30.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
