Television ads begin in Michigan Senate race
LANSING, MI (AP)-- The ad war has begun as Republican rivals Clark Durant and Pete Hoekstra take to the airwaves in the U.S. Senate race in the final weeks before the August 7 primary election.
Durant announced Tuesday that he's running an ad statewide on broadcast stations promoting himself as a "rebel with a cause" who will go to Washington and get it working again.
Hoekstra's campaign says it will begin airing an ad Wednesday promoting the former Congressman as a reformer in Washington and knowledgeable businessman.
Republicans Gary Glenn and Randy Hekman are also running for the chance to take on Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow in November, but neither has yet aired any TV ads.
