Tschannen headed to trial for accident

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   An Iron River man is going to trial for causing a serious accident on US-2 last month.

Theodore Tschannen, 63, is accused of exiting his driveway and hitting a vehicle that was westbound on the 

highway. The Watersmeet woman who was driving the vehicle was severely injured.

Tschannen is charged with operating while intoxicated, causing serious injury; operating with a high blood alcohol content, third offense; and open intoxicants, a misdemeanor.

A pretrial hearing is set for February 12, and a two-day trial is scheduled for February 27 and 28 in Iron County Circuit Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
