Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site set up at NMU

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University students are offering free tax help to those who need it.

Members of Beta Alpha Psi—NMU’s accounting and finance professional organization—are staffing a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site on campus. VITA is a national program offering free basic income tax return preparation for those who make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers.

The IRS-certified students will be available from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday through April 17 in the University Center trading lab.

Qualified students, employees, and community members may take advantage of assistance.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
