Woman trapped in snow rescued by Negaunee trooper

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Negaunee Township woman was saved from freezing to death by a Michigan State trooper from the Negaunee Post.

Around 9:20 Tuesday morning the post received a call from a local business. An employee had not shown up for work and they were unable to contact her, which was highly unusual.

A trooper was dispatched to an address on Midway Drive and found the 52-year-old woman lying in the snow near her garage. She had fallen and become stuck between her garage and a large snow bank. The woman had been trapped for approximately two hours and was suffering from exposure to the extreme cold.

The trooper carried the woman into her residence, covered her with blankets, and requested EMS. She was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
