U.P. man arrested for murder in Louisiana


IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - A 20-year-old Upper Peninsula man wanted for murder in Louisiana has been arrested.
            State Police and U.S. Marshalls arrested the man Friday at a home in Ironwood Township near the Wisconsin border. He was taken into custody without incident… and his name has not yet been released.
            The man is wanted on a warrant for first degree murder in Baton Rouge, LA. No details about the Louisiana case were released.
            The suspect will remain lodged in the Ontonagon County jail pending extradition.

Suspects arrested in Wild Rover theft case

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of a wallet from the Wild Rover restaurant March 5.  



Officers say the release of a surveillance video of the incident led to numerous tips from the public.  Further investigation led to the March 21 arrests of Tricia Lou Savard, 33, and Charles Raymond Elvetici, 30—both of Negaunee.  Both are charged with larceny in a building, punishable by up to four years in prison.

Wisconsin man faces murder charge

MARINETTE, WI--   A Peshtigo, Wisconsin man being held as a person of interest in his girlfriend’s death will be charged sometime this week with first-degree murder. 

That’s according to law enforcement, which is working with the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office on the criminal complaint against Brent Kaempf, 48.  Kaempf is being held in a Milwaukee County jail in connection with the death of Trish Waschbisch, 45, interim director of a domestic violence shelter.  She was found dead in her home on Sunday.

Peshtigo man questioned in girlfriend's death

PESHTIGO, WI (AP)--   Police say a man sought in connection with a death investigation in Peshtigo, Wisconsin has been taken into custody.  

Authorities were looking for Brent Kaempf, 48, of Peshtigo as a “person of interest” in the investigation.  He was taken into custody Sunday night.

The state Department of Justice says Kaempf was in a relationship with the victim at the time of her death.  She was identified Monday as Patricia Waschbisch, 45, of Peshtigo.

The Justice Department says investigators are treating her death as a homicide.

Shingleton business owner thwarts robbery

SHINGLETON, MI--   A 17-year-old Shingleton male and 18-year-old Munising man are in custody following the attempted break-in of a Shingleton business.  

Sunday around 4:10 a.m. troopers from the Munising Detachment were called to the Oasis Gas Station for a B&E in progress.
