ATV accident kills Wisconsin man in Marinette County

AMBERG, WI— An Amberg, Wisconsin man was killed in an ATV accident in Marinette County over the weekend.

Sunday around 8:42 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Old 38 Road just north of Dow Dam Road in Amberg.

Investigation indicated Devin R. Cotter Nutt, 31, was southbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. His ATV went into the ditch and struck several trees.

Nutt was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Amberg Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
