Humanities grants given to UP museums

LANSING, MI— Michigan Humanities has awarded $130,000 in grants to 32 museums across the state.

The Michigan Museum Recovery Grants program offered up to $10,000 for general operating support, programming support, or a combination of both.

Upper Peninsula recipients included the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society on Whitefish Point, the Menominee Range Historical Foundation, the Museum of Ojibwa Culture in Saint Ignace, and the Tahquamenon Logging Museum in Newberry.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
