The next visiting artist at Zero Degrees Gallery is Elizabeth Gartner Howe.
She is a painter and art instructor, who reminds us to stop and appreciate details and the world around us. In her artist statement, she hopes to "make the connection to nature through the creamy expressive strokes of the brush and colors of the palette." In the Upper Great Lakes, every day is fresh inspiration for her.
In her paintings, she reflects the natural landscape around her. She lives and works near Lake Superior. In turn, she uses this observational method to teach, to help instill the creative expression in her students.
We spoke with Elizabeth about her art and teaching, and also spoke with Marc Himes of the gallery about the Visiting Artist Series.
