UPEC to stream event discussing planned spaceport

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition is hosting a livestream and Zoom event focusing on a potential spaceport in Marquette County.

The latest “This Is It” livestream is called “Marquette Spaceport—Development at Any Cost?” It will feature Dennis Ferraro, president of Citizens for a Safe and Clean Lake Superior.

The group was formed after an online petition gathered 21,000 signatures opposing the plan. Ferraro, a retired trial attorney, will make the case that there is no compelling need to industrialize the Lake Superior shoreline at the estate of Granot Loma.

The event takes place Thursday night at 7 p.m. Eastern on Facebook and Zoom.
