DNR offices stick to being open 3 days a week until the end of October

LANSING, MI— The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has once again delayed the full opening of certain field offices and customer service centers.

The facilities will remain open to the public three days a week—Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays—until at least October 31.

The three-day schedule has been in place since July 20 and was meant to be expanded to the full five days a week after Labor Day, but coronavirus advisories and recommendations thwarted that plan. A new date of October 4 was set, only to be extended again to October 31.

Affected customer service centers in the Upper Peninsula include those in Baraga, Escanaba, Marquette, Newberry and Sault Ste. Marie.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
