Shooting in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI--   One man is hospitalized, following a shooting in Escanaba. 

Public Safety officials received a 911 call around 10:30 Sunday night from an apartment complex on the north side of the city.  Upon arrival officers found a 20-year-old Escanaba man on the floor with a gunshot wound to his face.  The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, then transferred to Marquette General Hospital.

Officers questioned a 26-year-old Escanaba man about the incident and later arrested him on a weapons charge.  His name has not yet been released.

The incident remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
