Marquette man arrested for two B&E incidents

MARQUETTE, MI--   On Christmas day at 6:40 pm, officers from the Marquette Police Department responded to a breaking and entering complaint to a business on the 1100 block of North Third Street.

Upon arriving on scene, officers discovered the suspect was still within the business. After attempting to flee, the suspect was arrested. He was identified as Marquette resident, Luke Raymond Barabe, 37.

Felony charges were authorized by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for breaking and entering with intent, possession of burglary tools, malicious destruction of a building and resisting and obstructing a police officer.

Through additional investigation, it was determined that Luke Barabe was also the suspect in a Breaking and Entering of a business in the 100 block of East Hewitt Street. That occurred on Christmas Eve at approximately 1:45 am.

The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized the following additional charges as result: breaking and entering with intent, receiving and concealing stolen property and malicious destruction of a building.

Barabe is currently lodged at the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
