LANSING, MI— Rural community projects in the Upper Peninsula are getting reimbursement grants from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
The money will be used for capacity building activities, development readiness initiatives, partnership and plan formation, and cross-sector collaboration.
Upper Peninsula Health Care Solutions is getting $50,000 to develop a region-wide solution to behavioral and mental health care access issues.
Great Lakes Recovery Centers will receive $50,000 to build a Women’s New Hope House in the Soo.
Crystal Falls is getting $20,000 for engineering of a possible new housing development.
Hancock will receive $50,000 to environmentally assess five former Finlandia University properties.
$50,000 is going to the Keweenaw County Sheriff's Office to develop plans for a brick-and-mortar Keweenaw County Emergency Response Center.
$50,000 is going to the Superior Watershed Partnership for nature tourism education and conservation efforts.
