Pasadena, CA - The parent company of the Finnish-American Heritage Center in Hancock has received a major gift from the downstate Finnish Center Association’s Senior Citizens’ Housing Corporation. The corporation gifted over
$4-million dollars to the Pasadena, California, based Finlandia Foundation National.
The money came from the sale of FCA Senior Citizens’ Housing Corporation’s Tapiola Apartments, a 92-unit housing community in Farmington Hills.
In 2023 when Finlandia University shut its doors, F-F-N conducted a campaign to save the Finnish American Heritage Center, its many and varied operations and the contents of its archive, which contains irreplaceable collections of items that tell the story of Finnish-American history nationwide.
F-F-N awards dozens of grants and scholarships each year, and provides critical funding to maintain cultural traditions that represent the heritage of Finland and the diverse interests of Finnish America.
