NMU to offer tuition-free scholarship to qualifying students this fall

MARQUETTE, MI— Northern Michigan University has launched a new financial assistance program that would give some students free tuition for four years.

“NMU Tuition Advantage” will serve as a “last dollar” scholarship for students who are graduating from a Michigan high school in 2023, are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, and who qualify to receive the state’s new Michigan Achievement Scholarship. It’s available for resident, first-year students starting this fall.

The NMU Tuition Advantage will cover the remaining tuition balance after the Pell Grant, Michigan Achievement Scholarship, NMU scholarships and grants, and any tuition-specific internal or external funds are considered. The award is available for eight semesters as long as the student continues to qualify and maintains satisfactory academic progress.

More information from the NMU Financial Aid Office is available by calling 906-227-2327.
