Distinguished Professor of the Year honor bestowed on MTU professor

HOUGHTON, MI— A Michigan Technological professor has received a Distinguished Professor of the Year Award from the Michigan Association of State Universities.

Dr. Charles (Chuck) Wallace is Associate Professor of Computer Science and Associate Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. He’s been a faculty member since 2000.

Wallace’s research is primarily in the areas of computing education, software usability, and ethics. He helped design Tech’s software engineering program and remains actively involved in student advising.

Wallace also developed and delivered programs for adults and children to help improve digital literacy, and recruited students to help teach and deliver the courses.

Dr. Wallace will receive his award Friday at the 2024 Distinguished Professor of the Year Awards program in Lansing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
