Public input sought on UMERC integrated resource plan in January

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— The Michigan Public Service Commission is holding a hearing next month on a U.P. energy provider’s integrated resource plan, or IRP.

Upper Michigan Energy Resources Corporation serves more than 42,000 customers in the central and western U.P. The goal of the hearing is to take public comment on UMERC’s long-range forecasts for ensuring reliable service over the next 20 years, with specific requirements for reporting 5-, 10- and 15-year projections.

MPSC Staff will provide an overview of UMERC’s proposal.

The hearing takes place January 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. Central Time at Fornetti Hall at Bay College’s West Campus in Iron Mountain.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
