MARQUETTE, MI— Saturday’s the day to get rid of old drugs taking up space in your medicine cabinet.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, Michigan State Police and other law enforcement agencies are participating in National Drug Take Back Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., drop off any expired, unwanted, or unused medications so they can be properly destroyed.
Officials say disposing of drugs through Take Back Day keeps them out of the hands of those who might abuse them, and meds can leach into the environment if they’re simply thrown into the trash.
Syringes and inhalers will not be accepted.
