MGH demo information sessions being held at NMU Thursday

Nicole Walton

MARQUETTE, MI— Two public information sessions regarding demolition of the former Marquette General Hospital site are being held at Northern Michigan University Thursday.

The NMU Foundation, Adamo Group, and City of Marquette are hosting the sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the Northern Center. Officials will share an update on the project and answer questions from the community.

Phase 1 of the project is currently underway. Adamo Group has mobilized on site, established perimeter fencing, and engaged in pre-demolition waste removal and asbestos abatement, mostly in buildings on the southwest portion of the former hospital campus.

Above-grade structural demolition is expected to begin later this month.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
