Marquette Independence Day schedule released

MARQUETTE, MI— The City of Marquette has finalized details for its 4th of July celebrations.

At 12:15 p.m. next Thursday, the Bulldogs of the Fighter Wing of the Duluth Air National Guard will fly over the city in two F-16 fighter jets.

The parade is slated to start at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Washington and McClellan. The theme is Marquette Celebrating 175 Years. There will be 84 floats in the parade, which has been sponsored by the Marquette Kiwanis Club for 34 years.

The Food Fest will be held the 3rd and 4th at the lower harbor.

Fireworks will take place July 3rd at dusk in the harbor with a boat parade scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

And the Independence Day Laser Light Show returns to the lower harbor ore dock this year. The show will be synchronized with the fireworks on Wednesday, July 3rd. A sensory-friendly laser-only show will be held Thursday the 4th.
