No chickens allowed in Gladstone

GLADSTONE, MI (AP)--   A Delta County community has prohibited residents from keeping chickens after a four-month debate.

The Gladstone city commission voted 3-2 this week to uphold a city ordinance banning animals that aren't considered domestic pets. The commission asked residents to weigh in on the issue in a survey after a resident asked the city to reconsider the ban.

Gladstone city manager Darla Falcon says another motion was made at the meeting to clarify the legality of the animal ordinance. She says a committee led by a city commissioner will take up the request.
