SWP also to hold drug collection

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Superior Watershed Partnership is also offering a pharmaceutical collection event this weekend. 

The SWP is celebrating its 10th anniversary of hosting Earth Day events by partnering with the Earth Keeper Network to offer 18 collection sites across the U.P. 

Officials will accept prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, narcotics, liquids, and medical waste like sharps and old mercury thermometers. 

The SWP is also collecting liquid soaps containing plastic micro-beads, which collect in the Great Lakes and can be ingested by fish.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
