Marquette County grants awarded through West End Health Foundation

ISHPEMING, MI— The West End Health Foundation has awarded $50,000 to a number of Marquette County entities as part of its Spring Capital Grant cycle.

On Monday, the foundation also presented checks totaling $20,000 to two partnerships.

The recipients are as follows:

Marquette County - $8,250 for search and rescue
Courage Incorporated - $10,000 for equipment upgrades
Marquette County Habitat for Humanity - $10,000 for its home repair program
Michigamme United Methodist Institute - $2,750 for a lawn mower at Camp Michigamme
Negaunee Senior Citizens Center - $2,500 for Capturing Memories/Expanding Horizons
Pregnancy Services of Marquette dba Care Clinic - $2,000 for Food and Freshen UP
Superior Shore Systems Inc. - $4,500 for boxes for food
West End Townships Emergency Services Authority - $10,000 for AED upgrades and replacement accessories.

The two partnerships presented with checks were:

Start the Cycle - $10,000 for materials and raffle bikes
U.P. Children's Therapy - $10,000 for Project Sideline

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
