MARQUETTE, MI— The Department of Natural Resources is providing a snapshot of the deer season opener through the new, mandatory online reporting method.
As of 11:38 p.m. Tuesday, Menominee County led the pack with a total of 211 deer. Delta County was second, with 145 whitetails taken and Marquette County was third, with hunters taking 95 deer. A total of 1,054 deer were harvested on opening day.
It’s the first year the DNR is requiring mandatory deer harvest reporting, so comparison data from previous years isn’t available.
Officials say from September 10 through November 16, 119,713 hunters reported harvests. 86.47 percent of the reported harvests were submitted via the internet and 13.39 of the reported harvests were submitted via the HuntFish app.
Real time reporting data can be found here.
